Architectural drawing for the HIC redevelopment

Scheme overview

HIC's vision for the future focuses on the development of the current HIC exhibition halls, but also addresses other current site issues, such as visitor and vehicular access. The scheme involves:
  • Replacing Halls A, B, C, E and F built in the 1950s. Halls E and F were originally constructed as car parks.
  • Increase exhibition hall space from a current total of 16,500 metres square to 18,500 metres square.
  • Remodelled hall configuration to offer increased flexibility in line with client requests .
  • Substantial cosmetic improvements to the Centre’s exterior and interior.
  • Improved access to address existing traffic flow problems.
  • Easy access into the halls.
  • New registration spaces at the side and rear of the restored Royal Hall.
  • An outdoor piazza/display area.
  • Better use of existing parking areas.
  • Enhanced energy efficiency.
The scheme is a five to six-year enhancement programme, estimated to cost around £45 million (taking inflation into account)
